The Sports Centre have organised two courses that should be of wide interest:

Level 2 Multi Skills Development in Sport
18th/19th January and 7th March, 2020
Cost: £170
“This qualification is designed to prepare learners for deployment as independent coaches of multi-skills and physical activity and will introduce learners to the principles of coaching fundamental movement skills and sport specific skills via the planning, delivery and review of a series of linked and progressive coaching sessions.”

Note: the eligibility criterion says “Hold or be working towards a minimum of a recognised Level 2 sports specific coaching qualification or equivalent”. In the past being a student on a sport-related degree has been considered “equivalent”. We have checked this year with a list of our programmes and the response was: “The below courses should be ok but we would just need to check that their degree has modules where the learners plan, deliver and evaluate linked and progressive coaching sessions.” If you do not meet the Level 2 requirements, please contact the organiser via the linked page to check your eligibility.

Leader in Running Fitness
22nd February, 2020. 9am to 5pm.
Cost: £170 or £140 for (members of England Athletics-affiliated clubs)
“The Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course will focus on the safe organisation of achievable and progressive running activity and how to lead a group of runners of varying ability. It focuses on understanding and overcoming barriers to participation in running and how to increase participation by those not traditionally attracted to a running club.”
